Suicide suspected in death at Scotland Correctional Institution
Brandon James Lee was found unresponsive in his cell around noon today.

A person in custody at Scotland Correctional Institution died today of an apparent suicide.
Brandon James Lee #1625202 was found unresponsive in his cell around noon. Staff performed life-saving measures. Local EMS pronounced him dead at 12:32 p.m.
Law enforcement and the state medical examiner are investigating, which is required in the death of someone in custody. The NC Department of Adult Correction is cooperating fully with those investigations and is conducting its own.<_o3a_p>

Lee, 44, was convicted of first-degree murder in Wake County in 2019. He was serving a life sentence without the possibility of parole.
