LIVEX 2026 is the largest and most comprehensive test of the EU Rapid Deployment Capacity (RDC), designed to validate the Union's ability to respond swiftly to crises, conduct multinational operations, and project stability beyond its borders. The exercise simulates a hybrid threat scenario, incorporating conventional warfare, cyber threats, disinformation, and humanitarian challenges-reflecting the real-world security challenges faced by Europe and its partners.

During the visit, CEUMC observed live-field manoeuvres, command-and-control operations, and joint logistics exercises, emphasizing the seamless integration of EU forces under a unified command structure. "Exercises like LIVEX are not just about military readiness-they are a testament to the strength of European unity," stated CEUMC. "In a world where security threats know no borders, our ability to act as one is our greatest asset."

Spain's role as the host nation and framework provider was particularly highlighted, with the San Gregorio Training Centre-Europe's largest firing and manoeuvre range-offering an unparalleled environment for large-scale military training. Spain's contributions extend beyond logistics, with Spanish forces playing a central role in the exercise's execution, reinforcing the country's leadership in EU defence initiatives.
