On September 2, Amb. Jiang Feng, Head of the Mission of China to the African Union, paid a courtesy call on Amb. H.E. Maj. Gen. (Rtd) Charles Karamba, Permanent Representative of Rwanda to the AU.
Amb. Jiang stated that China and Rwanda are comprehensive strategic partners, advancing shoulder to shoulder on respective paths toward modernization. He expressed his readiness to work closely with Amb. Karamba to deepen China-Rwanda and China-Africa cooperation in peacekeeping and other areas. Amb. Jiang also elaborated on the core concepts and major significance of Global Governance Initiative recently proposed by President Xi Jinping.
Amb. Karamba welcomed Amb. Jiang's assumption of his new post, noted that people of Rwanda and China share similar value and both uphold multilateralism and respect for sovereignty and independence. He appreciated China for its contributions to promoting peace and security in Africa, strengthening African solidarity and cooperation, and deepening China-Africa friendship. He highly commended China's important leading role at a time when the global system faces challenges and expressed willingness to facilitate cooperation between the Chinese mission and African Union organs in Rwanda.
