"Cowboy Astronomer" to be shown at DWU

DWU will bring a unique astronomy experience to campus with multiple showings of "The Cowboy Astronomer," Thursday and Friday, July 17 and 18.

MITCHELL - Dakota Wesleyan University will bring a unique astronomy experience to campus this week with multiple showings of "The Cowboy Astronomer," an exploration of the stars from a cowboy's point of view. Shows will be presented Thursday and Friday, July 17 and 18, in the Corrigan Health Sciences Center Buhler Physics Lab, Room 118, at 10 a.m., 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. both days.

Using the Florence Glenny Farney Dakota Discovery Dome, an inflatable planetarium, those attending will be treated to a 37-minute show featuring star tales, Native American legends, constellation identification and astronomy tidbits, all told from the unique viewpoint of a cowboy astronomer who has traveled the world plying his trade and learning the sky along the way.

The show is suitable for children ages 8 and older, as well as adults. Attendees are encouraged to bring a pillow for comfort.
