Las Vegas Community Invited To Citywide Unity Prayer Event Jan. 11

Mayor Shelley Berkley Will Welcome Local Faith Leaders To Pray For The Community

The community is invited to attend the Citywide Unity Prayer Breakfast Saturday, Jan. 11, at 10 a.m. at the Historic Fifth Street School Auditorium, 401 S. Fourth St. in downtown Las Vegas. The event is free and open to the public.

Mayor Shelley Berkley is scheduled to welcome local faith leaders to the event that will include Dr. Clyde Rivers as the keynote speaker. Dr. Rivers is the acting United Nations representative for the Interfaith Peace Building Initiative and director of Golden Rule International in North America, advocating for global civility and peace. In addition, Ward 2 Councilwoman Victoria Seaman is scheduled to speak at the event. A continental breakfast will be offered at 9:30 a.m.

The Citywide Unity Prayer Breakfast takes place twice a year and this event is sponsored by the city of Las Vegas, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, SOS Christian Radio 90.5 and faith-based organizations in the community.

The event is in partnership with the Mayor's Faith Initiative, a working group formed in 2012 with more than 120 faith leaders representing more than 70,000 congregants from Las Vegas valley houses of worship. The group works to better the Las Vegas community through faith in action.
