auDA website launch: improved user experience is on the way

As auDA's community knows, a website is an important online asset for all organisations. A website represents your brand online, is a digital shopfront for businesses, and houses essential information to support your community or customers.

Over recent months, we've been hard at work redeveloping the auDA website to enhance user experience and help users find the information they need about .au and auDA with ease.

Why a new website?

auDA's website is an essential channel to share important information with the public about the .au domain and our work. Our existing website has a range of information, however, our stakeholders told us they'd like us to make it easier to find key information and improve search and navigation features.

With that in mind, we developed our new website in consultation with our stakeholders to meet their needs. There are a diverse range of people visiting our website each day, including:

• .au domain name holders (registrants) looking for information to help them manage their existing .au domain name
• Potential registrants searching for information on what makes .au the right choice for them
• .au members, seeking information about auDA operations, governance arrangements, and the .au member program
• Members of the public seeking information on .au Licensing Rules and compliance matters
• Domestic and international internet governance and policy professionals familiarising themselves with auDA's policy positions
• .au domain name providers (registrars and resellers) seeking information on providing .au domain name services to the public
• Prospective employees seeking information about auDA and its operations
• Not-for-profit and research institutions interested in our Public Benefit Program.

We undertook comprehensive user testing to improve the experience for all users and ensure the final design would deliver users with the knowledge and digital tools necessary to navigate the .au and engage with auDA. That testing has informed an accessible, user-friendly design with improved navigation.

What can I expect from the new auDA website?

In addition to a new look, the auDA website will relaunch with a range of new and improved functionality and content, including:

• An enhanced search function and navigation features to help users find the information they need easily
• Expanded content to help Australians understand, choose and manage .au domain names
• A new section dedicated to auDA's public impact work, from our advocacy for multi-stakeholder internet governance to our Public Benefit Program
• An interactive .au domain name search to help you find and register a .au domain name, including an enhanced .au domain name provider marketplace
• An enhanced .au WHOIS tool to help users look up .au domain name registrations.

In developing the website, auDA implemented security enhancements to ensure ongoing adherence to best practice security standards. We've also developed the website to comply with web accessibility standards (W3C AA web content accessibility guidelines) and we will continue to make our content more accessible for all internet users.
