Kutztown University to Host Visiting Fulbright Scholar-in-Residence

KUTZTOWN, Pa. - Kutztown University has been selected to host a Fulbright Scholar-in-Residence from India to be a professor in the Department of Cinema, Television and Media Production during the 2025 spring semester. Dr. Manjula Srinivas, an expert in media and journalism at Flame University Pune, was selected for the Fulbright award by the Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board.

"Dr. Srinivas has a breadth of experience in the media industry in Mumbai and across India, including work in Bollywood," said Dr. Bradley Shope, dean of the College of Visual and Performing Arts. "Her expansive experience will benefit students in the Department of Cinema, Television and Media Production (CTM), the College of Visual and Performing Arts and across campus. She is excited to interact with as many students, faculty and staff as possible. I'm thrilled that she is on campus for the semester."

The Fulbright Scholar-in-Residence Program brings visiting scholars from abroad to U.S. colleges and universities, helping the institutions internationalize their curricula, campuses and surrounding communities and diversify the educational experiences of their students, faculty, staff and stakeholders. Srinivas is one of 43 Fulbright Scholars-in-Residence and among 1,000 outstanding foreign faculty and professionals who will teach and pursue research in the United States for the 2024-2025 academic year through the worldwide Fulbright Visiting Scholar Program.

Srinivas has received the Women Super Achiever Award by Femina in February 2017, Top-50 Women in Education Award by World Education Congress in November 2017, Best Professor in Advertising-Academy of Management Professionals, 2019, 100 World's Dedicated Professors by World Education Congress 2019 Higher Education Forum Excellence Award, 2019 Indo Asian Best Women Media Economist Award and 2020 Rotary Award for Vocational Excellence.

With more than 30 years of experience in the field of media education, KU is very lucky to have her on campus. Srinivas will be speaking to students in various settings such as classrooms, community events and more. Hosting Srinivas at KU provides a great opportunity for students to gain a whole new perspective. Srinivas can not only give a new understanding of media communications to her students, she also will expose them to international insights.
