UW Living Learning Community Sponsors and RAs Honored

The University of Wyoming Learning Resource Network (LeaRN) and Residence Life have named the 2026 recipients of the Hall to Home Award for exceptional living learning community sponsors and resident assistants.

Dawn Carver, sponsor of the Pre-Nursing living learning community (LLC), has been honored for her outstanding commitment to student success, community building and academic support.

Additionally, Destiny Roberts, resident assistant for the Pre-Law LLC, has been recognized as this year's resident assistant award recipient for her leadership and dedication to her residents.

The Hall to Home Award recognizes living learning community sponsors and student leaders who create enriching environments for students, support academic achievement and cultivate a strong sense of belonging within UW's residence halls. These individuals play a vital role in shaping communities where learning extends beyond the classroom.

UW offers first-year interest groups and living learning communities designed to connect students based on shared academic interests, personal passions and career goals.

Award recipients were selected based on nominations from student residents, highlighting both the number and quality of submissions.

"Dawn Carver and Destiny Roberts exemplify what it means to build meaningful community within our living learning environments," says April Heaney, director of LeaRN. "Their dedication, care for students and commitment to student growth make a lasting impact on the UW experience."

Student nominations highlighted Carver's compassion, accessibility and deep commitment to her students' success.

"Dawn is one of the kindest people I've met at UW. She always wanted the best for us --whether that meant helping with difficult classes or supporting us through other challenges," one student says. "She encouraged me every day to put my best foot forward, and I will forever be grateful."

Dean of Students Tyler Crisman served as the featured speaker at this year's Hall to Home Awards celebration, recognizing the important role that both sponsors and resident assistants play in student success.

In addition to the award recipients, several outstanding individuals were recognized as nominees for their contributions to their respective communities.

Resident assistant nominees included:

-- JP Phillips, of Casper, Videogaming and Esports LLC.

-- Julian Amundson, of Timnath, Colo., Construction Management LLC.

-- Kate McCune, Johnstown, Colo., Health Careers LLC.

-- Alex Russell, of Arvada, Colo., Kinesiology and Health LLC.

-- CJ Stoflet, of Deadwood, S.D., Art and Art History LLC.

-- Savannah Schreuder, of Bailey, Colo., Animal Science LLC.

Sponsor nominees included:

-- Randall Violett, Western Heritage LLC.

-- Brian Barr and Tyler Kjorstad, Business Foundations LLC.

-- Joe Schroer, Teaching Pathways LLC.

The Hall to Home Award recipients were recognized April 22 in the South Hall Classroom.
