The next regular Yuma City Council meeting will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 1, in the Council Chambers at City Hall.
Here are some of the items scheduled to be presented to City Council for consideration:
Western Arizona Council of Governments Agency Agreement
Council will consider an agreement with the Western Arizona Council of Governments to continue providing utility payment assistance to qualified City customers experiencing financial hardship. The program may help with unpaid utility charges or deposits required to establish water service and is intended to help prevent service disconnections.
Election Consolidation, Voting Center Locations, and Election Board
A resolution before Council would adopt voting center locations, consolidate precincts, and appoint election board members for the 2026 City of Yuma Primary and General Elections. The action would establish the locations and staffing needed to conduct the elections on July 21 and November 3.
IGA with Yuma County Airport Authority
A proposed intergovernmental agreement (IGA) with the Yuma County Airport Authority will be presented to Council for authorization. The agreement would allow the City's Public Works Department to provide maintenance, inspections, diagnostics, and repairs for fire apparatus and emergency response equipment supporting operations at the Yuma Proving Ground.
Technology Software Renewals and Equipment Purchases
Several technology purchases and software subscription renewals are scheduled for Council consideration. If authorized, the items would help keep City systems secure, reliable, and operational while replacing aging equipment and maintaining essential software and support services.
Eastbound Interstate 8 Frontage Road Right-of-Way Transfer
An ordinance will be introduced to accept the Arizona Department of Transportation's transfer of approximately 2.5 miles of the eastbound Interstate 8 frontage road, also known as Gila Ridge Road, between Avenue 4E and Araby Road. The transfer would give the City ownership, jurisdiction, and maintenance responsibility for the roadway.
