On 27 - 29 April 2026, Mr. Chetthaphan Maksamphan, Deputy Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, led a Thai delegation comprising representatives from relevant government agencies, the private sector, and 12 Thai startup companies to participate in SusHi Tech Tokyo 2026, a leading global platform for startups, technology, and innovation, in Tokyo, Japan.
On 27 April 2026, the Royal Thai Embassy in Tokyo, in collaboration with the Department of International Economic Affairs, organized the event "Entering Japan: Lessons from Thai Businesses on the Ground" to prepare Thai startup entrepreneurs participating in SusHi Tech Tokyo 2026 with in-depth understanding of the Japanese market. The event also provided an opportunity for Thai startups to engage with and learn from business experts in Japan, covering market opportunities, challenges, and approaches to operating in a highly standardized and distinctive market.
SusHi Tech Tokyo is a major platform that brings together startup entrepreneurs, investors, and technology leaders from around the world. The event is supported by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government and features approximately 770 participating startups, around 60,000 visitors, and a growing number of national pavilions. Thailand's participation in this event is part of the Ministry's proactive economic diplomacy, aimed at strengthening connections between Thai entrepreneurs and international investors and partners, enhancing Thai startups' global competitiveness, and promoting Thailand's innovation and startup ecosystem on the international stage.
