Author Christy Swift to Host Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony and Book Signing at the Grand Opening at 9AM on Wednesday, March 11^th, 2026

Melbourne, FL - March 4, 2026 -Barnes & Noble is thrilled to announce its return to Melbourne, FL with the opening its new bookstore on Wednesday, March 11^th, 2026.

The new 21,000 square foot Barnes & Noble in the Shoppes of West Melbourne is a relocation of the previous Melbourne bookstore and is located less than half a mile away from the store's old home. The new store is next to Planet Fitness, in the space formerly occupied by Party City, at 1557 W. New Haven Ave, Melbourne, FL 32904.

The store will officially open to the public at 9AM on Wednesday the 11^th, with local author Christy Swift cutting the ribbon and signing copies of her sweet and spicy romance novel, Hollywood Hookup. Favorite story time character Pete the Cat will also join the festivities on Wednesday, in addition to hosting a special story time on Saturday.

"In this stretch of the Florida coastline alone, we have new stores just opened in Port St Lucie and Tequesta, and now we move the old Melbourne bookstore into a beautiful new home," said JD. "These new bookstores are proving extraordinarily successful and demonstrate the enduring popularity of a great bookstore."

The new Melbourne, FL Barnes & Noble is the 8^th new bookstore to open so far in 2026. Barnes & Noble now boasts over 700 bookstores, having been below 600 stores as recently as 2023. In 2025, Barnes & Noble opened more new bookstores in a single year than it had in the whole decade from 2009 to 2019. The bookseller will open over 60 new bookstores in 2026.

Barnes & Noble Premium and Rewards Members will earn double stamps on all purchases made between March 11^th and 15^th. Customers who are not yet Members are encouraged to sign up and start earning stamps and rewards right away.

Everyone who visits the new Melbourne Barnes & Noble during the grand opening will have access to exclusive deals, like $50 off any NOOK device. Customers can also save 40% on all DVD, Blu-ray, and 4k Ultra HD movies.
