China's police chief meets guests from DR Congo, Belarus

BEIJING, Sept. 16 -- Chinese State Councilor and Minister of Public Security Wang Xiaohong met with guests from the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and Belarus in Beijing on Tuesday, who are in China to attend the 2025 Conference of the Global Public Security Cooperation Forum in Lianyungang.

During his meeting with DRC Vice Prime Minister and Interior Minister Jacquemain Shabani, Wang urged the two sides to take the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries as guidance, and actively advance the Global Security Initiative and the Global Governance Initiative.

He said that both sides should strengthen law enforcement and security cooperation mechanisms, enhance security guarantees for Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) projects, and deepen cooperation in law enforcement capacity building to promote the development of the China-DRC comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership.

Shabani said the DRC is willing to maintain close communication with China and take effective measures to protect the safety of Chinese personnel, institutions and projects in the DRC.

When meeting with Dmitry Gora, Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Belarus, Wang urged the two sides to implement the important consensus reached by their leaders, deepen cooperation in combating transnational crime and safeguarding cybersecurity, and explore mechanisms to safeguard the security of major BRI projects and personnel and jointly advance law enforcement and security cooperation and the China-Belarus all-weather comprehensive strategic partnership.

Gora stated that the Belarusian side firmly supports the Global Governance Initiative and is ready to work with China to achieve more fruitful outcomes in law enforcement and security cooperation.
