Today, the Commission has launched the MEDIA carbon calculator to help audiovisual producers across the EU to calculate the carbon footprint of their productions. Using digital tools to power our green transition, this web application is designed to bring environmental awareness into the audiovisual sector. It analyses factors such as energy consumption, transportation, and material usage for a comprehensive insight into carbon emissions.

Free of charge, the MEDIA carbon calculator underscores the Commission's commitment to establishing a unified CO2 emissions measurement methodology for the audiovisual sector, as outlined in the Media and Audiovisual Action Plan. Furthermore, it will encourage stakeholders to pursue more sustainable practices and contribute to Europe's wide environmental goals.
