Parrish Medical Center to Activate a Partial Lockdown at 6PM

Parrish Medical Center has fully activated its Hurricane Milton emergency response protocols to include a partial lockdown of the hospital beginning at 6 p.m., Wed., Oct. 9

October 9, 2024-Weather conditions continue to deteriorate as Hurricane Milton continues its approach. In the interest of public safety, Parrish Medical Center will initiate a partial lockdown of the hospital beginning at 6 p.m., Wed., Oct. 9, in accordance with its hurricane/tropical storm emergency response protocols.

Public access to the hospital will be limited to persons requiring emergency medical attention. General visitation will not be permitted after 6 p.m., Wed., Oct. 9. However, hospitalized patients are permitted one partner in care to remain with them until the storm event is cleared. Arrangements have already been made with hospitalized patients and their loved ones. The partial lockdown status will remain in effect until further notice.

When wind speeds reach tropical storm strength, the hospital will initiate a full lockdown, which means all entrances into the hospital will be locked to prevent potential wind damage and/or injuries. Advance notice may or may not be possible.

Persons experiencing medical emergencies (potential loss of life or limb emergencies), who do not arrive via Ambulance, will be directed by a Parrish Emergency Medical Care Partner to the appropriate entrance to ensure prompt and safe entry.

Reminder that the hospital is not a shelter. For shelter information, visit https://www.brevardfl.gov/EmergencyManagement.
