Catoctin Mountain Park Announces Temporary Road Closure October 2 and 3

News Release Date: October 1, 2026

THURMONT, Md.-
Due to increased security meansures, a section of Park Central Road in Catoctin Mountain Park will temporarily close Friday, October 2, at 10 a.m. The road is expected to reopen by 8 p.m. Saturday, October 3, but may reopen earlier.

What visitors need to know:

  • Road closure: Park Central Road between Hog Rock Parking Lot and the Camp Greentop entrance.
  • Closure begins: Friday, October 2, at 10 a.m.
  • Expected reopening: Saturday, October 3, by 8 p.m., possibly earlier.
  • Visitor access: All trails, parking lots and other public use areas will remain open.
