The government has extended the validity of national export control measures until 2 January 2027

A draft resolution, prepared by the Ministry of the Economy and Innovation (EIMIN), has been approved by the government to extend the validity of these measures for another year, until 2 January 2027. These measures ensure the effectiveness of sanctions against Russia and Belarus while enabling Lithuanian businesses to operate within a clear and predictable regulatory framework.

This decision maintains the national export control model adopted in 2023, which applies to goods that could be used for military purposes or contribute to the enhancement of military capabilities. While the control measures have helped reduce the flow of such goods to Russia and Belarus, the risk of sanctions evasion remains, hence the decision to extend their validity.

'By extending the export control measures, we aim to ensure the consistent and effective application of international sanctions and reduce the risk of circumvention. This is an important step in strengthening our security and that of Europe as a whole,' said Paulius Petrauskas, Vice Minister of the Economy and Innovation.

Together with other institutions, EIMIN is also preparing additional export control measures for high-risk goods specified in European Union regulations. The provisions on the proposed measures will be submitted for consideration in a separate draft law.

This was prepared in cooperation with the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Finance and Justice, the Customs Department and other relevant bodies.
