On Sunday, 15 February 2026, the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which currently holds the Presidency of the Council of the Baltic Sea States (CBSS), and the CBSS Secretariat jointly hosted a roundtable side event at this year's Munich Security Conference (MSC 2026). The session focused on countering hybrid threats in the Baltic Sea Region.
The session was chaired by Dr Gustav Lindström, Director General of the CBSS Secretariat, and included interventions from Mr Radosław Sikorski (Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Poland, and Chair of the CBSS), Ms Þorgerður Katrín Gunnarsdóttir (Minister for Foreign Affairs of Iceland), Mr Espen Barth Eide (Minister of Foreign Affairs of Norway), and Mr Martin Roger (Undersecretary for Political Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Estonia).
As a leading forum for international security policy, the 62nd Munich Security Conference took place from 13 to 15 February 2026. The programme notably addressed European security and defence, the future of the transatlantic relationship, the revitalisation of multilateralism, competing visions of the global order, regional conflicts, and the security implications of technological advances.
Under its tenure of the CBSS Presidency, Poland has placed security at the centre of its priorities, seeking to strengthen the political pillar of the organisation through a more focused approach to regional security, including the protection of critical infrastructure in the Baltic Sea Region and efforts to counter the shadow fleet.
