Jury Convicts Ex-Substitute Teacher Timothy Daugherty of Criminal Sexual Conduct in the Second Degree

TUESDAY, MAY 13, 2025

PONTIAC, Mich. - Timothy Allen Daugherty, a 61-year-old former substitute teacher, was convicted of six counts of Criminal Sexual Conduct in the Second Degree Tuesday in Oakland County Circuit Court.

Daugherty was a substitute teacher at Spring Mills Elementary School in the Huron Valley School District. He was charged in October 2024 after multiple students accused him of inappropriate contact. The victims, all female, were between 9-11-years-old when these crimes occurred.

"Timothy Daugherty victimized the children he was supposed to nurture and protect," said Prosecutor McDonald. "Parents expect schools to be a safe place for their children and children should never have to fear their own teachers. Coming forward is never easy for victims, especially children. Thanks to them, Daugherty won't be able to harm another student."

Criminal Sexual Conduct in the Second Degree is punishable by up to 15 years in prison. Sentencing is scheduled for June 24 in Oakland County Circuit Court before Judge Jasmine Poles.
