Chinese Ambassador to Cyprus Liu Yantao Pays a Farewell Call on President of DIKO Nicholas Papadopoulos

On 26 November 2025, Ambassador Liu Yantao paid a farewell call on Mr Nicholas Papadopoulos, President of the Democratic Party (DIKO) of Cyprus.

Ambassador Liu expressed his gratitude to President Papadopoulos and DIKO for their important contributions to the growth of China-Cyprus relations. He noted that the sound CPC-DIKO interactions have provided strong support for the development of the China-Cyprus strategic partnership. The Chinese side stands ready to further enhance communication and cooperation with DIKO, so as to secureeven bigger progress in bilateral relations.

President Papadopoulos highly recognized Ambassador Liu's work during his tenure, stating that DIKO has always regarded China as one of Cyprus' most important strategic partners. He expressed DIKO's willingness to further strengthen exchanges with the CPC and China, and contribute to the development of both Cyprus-China and EU-China relations.

Ambassador Liu expressed his appreciation for Mr. Neofytou's long-standing commitment to the growth of China-Cyprus relations. He noted that China stands ready to work closely with the House of Representatives of Cyprus and DISY, so as to jointly advance the steady, sound and sustained development of the China-Cyprus strategic partnership.

Mr. Neofytou highly commended Ambassador Liu's important contribution to boosting China-Cyprus exchanges and cooperation in various fields during his tenure. He stressed that Cyprus cherishes its relations with China and looks forward to even more substantive cooperation in the years ahead.
