Moulton Votes “No” on Final Passage of FY2027 NDAA

WASHINGTON, DC - Congressman Seth Moulton (MA-06) issued the following statement in regards to his 'No' vote on this Fiscal Year 2027 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA):

"Last month, I explained why I voted No on the NDAA during House Armed Services Committee markup. Today, I also voted No on the NDAA during final consideration of the legislation on the House floor, for the same reasons I voted against it in committee markup in June.

"In addition to the massive increase in the defense topline that would only add to the bloat in our defense budget, voting for the NDAA is an implicit vote of support for Donald Trump's failure of a war with Iran. No Democrat should support that and enable this Administration further.

"To make matters worse, since our committee markup, Republicans have jammed hateful poison pill provisions into this bill that have nothing to do with national security. The anti-LGBTQIA+ amendments included in the NDAA block essential medical and mental healthcare for trans military kids and enforce invasive bodily inspections for young girls in DoDEA schools. Targeting military families actively drives people away from serving our country, which directly harms our military recruitment and national readiness.

"Republicans would be better served figuring a way to hold Trump accountable and end this war, rather than attack the LGBTQIA+ community to score political points with their base. This war is raising costs across the board on Americans at home and endangering the lives of American troops aboard. Voting No on the NDAA is the bare minimum to stop this war."
