Fairfield Expands Garbage Drop-Off Options Amid Republic Services Strike

As the Republic Services strike continues to disrupt trash collection across Solano County, the City of Fairfield is expanding efforts to assist residents affected by the interruption.

Originally a solidarity action in other parts of California, the strike now includes local workers in Fairfield, leading to a temporary halt in trash pickup in Fairfield, Suisun City, and some unincorporated areas of Solano County.

In response, Fairfield-in coordination with Suisun City and Solano County-has opened multiple temporary drop-off sites to provide residents with safe and convenient options for disposing of household garbage.

Drop-Off Locations in Fairfield

Residents can dispose of bagged household trash at the following 24/7 locations in Fairfield:

  • Allan Witt Park - 1714 W. Texas Street
  • Cordelia Community Park - 1300 Gold Hill Road
  • Dunnell Nature Center - 3351 Hillridge Drive
  • Republic Services Facility - 2901 Industrial Court
  • Solano Community College - 4000 Suisun Valley Road

In Suisun City, residents can also access:

  • Lambrecht Sports Complex - 4479 Petersen Road
    Open daily from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Additionally, the Potrero Hills Landfill (3675 Potrero Hills Lane, Suisun) continues to offer a drop-off box at its entrance so residents can avoid driving to the scale house. Hours are:

  • Monday-Saturday: 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.
  • Sunday: 9 a.m. - 1 p.m.

Important Guidelines

Only household garbage in secured bags will be accepted. Loose trash, hazardous waste, electronics, bulky items (mattresses, furniture, appliances), tires, and lumber are not permitted.

To use the drop-off sites, residents must present proof of address-either a current Republic Services bill or a driver's license showing an address in Fairfield, Suisun City, or unincorporated Solano County. Security will be on-site to verify eligibility and help prevent illegal dumping.
