A Message from Mayor Shapiro

This evening, the Village of Deerfield became aware of abhorrent hate speech messages displayed on an electronic billboard across the Edens Spur from multiple Jewish institutions in our community. I strongly condemn this hate speech. It has no place in Deerfield or anywhere else. The messages have been removed and, it is my understanding, the manager of the property on which the billboard is located has reported that its system was hacked and the billboard has been disabled. A multi-jurisdictional investigation is under way involving multiple law enforcement agencies. As new information comes to light, updates will be provided to the community.
