TOMS RIVER, NJ - The Ocean County Board of Commissioners recently approved an ongoing Intergovernmental Agreement with Ocean County College for a grant writing training series, administered through the Workforce Development Board, aimed at helping local organizations and nonprofits access funding opportunities.
The grant writing training provides instruction in both grant writing and grant administration to local organizations. The program supports individuals and organizational staff who need assistance navigating the grant application and administration process, equipping them with the knowledge and skills to effectively access, manage, and expand funding avenues.
The training offers an enhanced understanding of grant opportunities, in-person instruction on developing grant application components, assistance in deciphering grant solicitation language and expectations, increased knowledge of grant administration terms and requirements, and course-completion certificates.
Since the training service began in August 2024, eight three-day sessions have been held, with 104 total registrants. Participants have represented 64 nonprofit organizations.
"This partnership with Ocean County College gives local organizations the tools they need to compete for grant funding, which assists to expand the services they provide," said Ocean County Commissioner Jennifier Bacchione, liaison to the Workforce Development Board. "When we invest in the capacity of our local organizations and nonprofits, we are investing directly in the people and communities of Ocean County they serve."
Intergovernmental agreements provide a clear framework for organizations to share resources and expertise for the benefit of county residents.
