City of Grand Junction Calls for Artists for a Mural on the HAWK Traffic Signal Box

The City of Grand Junction and the Grand Junction Commission on Arts and Culture announce a public art commission to create a mural on the HAWK traffic signal box. The deadline to submit proposals is Sept. 21, 2025. The mural must be completed by Oct. 13, 2025.

The project will celebrate the beauty of the monument and surrounding areas while enhancing community pride. Ideally, designs would complement the natural desert landscape and cover all exposed sides and the top of the traffic signal box. The box is located where Phase 2 of Monument Trail crosses Monument Road, about one mile northeast of the east entrance to the Colorado National Monument.

Interested artists are encouraged to apply by submitting a proposal description, design sketches, résumé, budget, references, and annotated images of representative work. The selection panel will include representatives from the City of Grand Junction and the Grand Junction Commission on Arts and Culture.

The Grand Junction Commission on Arts and Culture is dedicated to fostering a climate in which arts and culture can thrive and grow. For more information about serving as a volunteer for the commission or on other city boards and commissions, email [email protected] or call 970-244-1509.
