Police charge man with weapons and drug offences

Police have charged a man with firearms and drug offences in relation to an ongoing investigation.

At approximately 4:50 a.m., members of the HRP Quick Response Unit, Emergency Response Team, in partnership with the RCMP Halifax Regional Detachment Street Crime Enforcement Unit, conducted a search at a residence in the 3500 block of Connaught Avenue in Halifax. During the investigation, a quantity of drugs, money and multiple firearms and ammunition were located and seized. The suspect was taken into custody on scene without incident.

Clinton Christie, 43, is scheduled to appear in Halifax provincial court today to face charges of:

• Store firearm or restricted weapon contrary to regulations (x3)
• Possession of a weapon dangerous to public peace (x3)
• Unauthorized possession of a firearm (x3)
• Possession of a prohibited weapon
• Possession of a firearm - no license/certificate (x3)
• Possession of a prohibited/restricted weapon/ammunition-no license
• Possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm (x2)
• Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition obtained by crime (x3)
• Possession of a firearm contrary to order (x6)
• Tampering with serial number on firearm
• Possession of illicit cannabis
• Possession for the purpose of trafficking
• Possession for the purpose of distributing
• Possession of cannabis for the purpose of selling
• Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000.00
• Failure to comply with probation order (x2)
