AAUP President Todd Wolfson on Brown University Shootings

AAUP President Todd Wolfson issued the following statement in response to the shooting incident this weekend at Brown University in Providence.

"The AAUP is devastated by the horrific shootings at Brown University that claimed the lives of two students and injured nine others. We stand in solidarity with the victims, their families, and the entire Brown University community-students, faculty, and staff-who are grieving and suffering in the wake of this violence. Violence is never acceptable. Students, staff, and faculty deserve safe learning environments on college and university campuses.

The AAUP continues to advocate for measures that protect the safety and well-being of students, faculty, and staff in higher education institutions. We call upon our elected leaders to move forward with actions that we know can begin to solve our American gun violence epidemic.
