Defendant Convicted of 21 Counts Child Sexual Assault

CASE: Phillip Pherigo (Case #23FE004893)

PROSECUTOR: Deputy District Attorney Jennifer Gong, Special Assault & Child Abuse Unit

On June 10, 2026, Phillip Pherigo was convicted by a jury of 21 counts of child sexual assault charges. The jury also found that Pherigo committed substantial sexual conduct, the victim was particularly vulnerable, the crimes were conducted with planning and sophistication, and that Pherigo took advantage of a position of trust or confidence.

Phillip Pherigo sexually abused the victim from age 5 to 9 years old. The assaults included oral copulation and attempted sexual penetration. The victim was 15 years old when the abuse was reported and investigated.

Pherigo faces a maximum sentence of 135 years to life in prison. Sentencing is set for October 2, 2026, at 9:00 AM in Department 13B before the Honorable Helena Gweon.
