TRAFFIC ALERT - Sussex County - Closure of Stiener Road at the RR Crossing between Lewes Georgetown Hwy and Hollis Rd

Road Closure of Stiener Road at the Railroad Crossing between Lewes Georgetown Highway/ SR 9 and Hollis Road

Georgetown - ; The Delaware Department of Transportation announces that Delmarva Central Railroad forces will be resurfacing and performing general maintenance of their crossing of Stiener Road, beginning at 7:00 am on Friday, July 31, 2026. The work will require the full closure of Stiener Road. Message signs will be posted in advance, advising motorists of the closure.

A detour will be posted as follows:

Northbound: Stiener Road to Hollis Road to Gravel Hill Road to Lewes Georgetown Highway/ SR 9 back to Stiener Road.

Southbound: Stiener Road to Lewes Georgetown Highway/ SR 9 to Gravel Hill Road to Hollis Road back to Stiener Road.

The closure will be in place 24 hours per day. The work is expected to be completed, and the detour lifted no later than 10:00 pm on Tuesday, August 18, 2026.
