FACIS Launches First Call for Tenders for Digital Contracting Service (DCS)

FACIS (Federation Architecture for Composed Infrastructure Services) is creating an open and interoperable architecture for federated cloud and edge services as part of the European funding programme, IPCEI-CIS/8ra. The aim is to strengthen Europe's digital sovereignty, enable cooperation across providers and national borders, and create trust and transparency through open source and common standards.

Seeking strong partners

FACIS is now launching its first public call for tenders: it is looking for partners to implement the technical specifications that have already been developed. The first step is the Digital Contracting Service (DCS), which enables the fast and secure creation, negotiation, digital signing, verification and archiving of contracts. Further tenders will follow in the coming months.

"Europe needs trustworthy digital infrastructures that work across borders. The Digital Contracting Service is one of the first steps in this direction. With the call for tenders that has now been launched, we are inviting partners to actively contribute to building a key building block of Europe's digital sovereignty," says Emma Wehrwein, FACIS Project Lead and Senior Manager Innovation & Digital Ecosystems at eco.

The FACIS project is managed by eco - Association of the Internet Industry, which is responsible for coordination, organisation and the involvement of relevant stakeholders. Technical implementation is carried out jointly with partners from the industry and research departments.

The tender documents are available to interested organisations on the procurement platform.

Further information on FACIS and upcoming calls for proposals can be found at https://www.facis.eu and in the FACIS newsletter.

About FACIS

As part of the European IPCEI-CIS/8ra programme, FACIS is developing building blocks for a federated cloud edge ecosystem: Federation Architecture Patterns (FAPs), an SLA governance framework, and the Digital Contracting Service. All developments are published as open source and contribute to strengthening digital sovereignty, interoperability and trust in Europe's digital infrastructure.
