South Douglas Elementary School Opens 14 New Classrooms for Douglas County Students

Gilbane Building and Douglas County School System celebrate the completion a new classroom addition

Douglasville, GA - August 26, 2026 - Gilbane Building, a national leader in K-12 construction, has completed the new 18,542-square-foot classroom addition at South Douglas Elementary School for Douglas County School System. Delivered alongside design partner Goodwyn Mills Cawood (GMC), the project adds 14 classrooms and campus improvements that support students, staff, and the school community.

Gilbane provided construction management services for the addition, which creates modern, flexible learning environments to support the school's continued growth. The project also included expanded parking, improved traffic circulation, and infrastructure upgrades that integrate with the existing campus and improved access for students, staff, and visitors.

The new spaces give Douglas County students more room to learn and grow while helping South Douglas Elementary School serve its community for years to come.
