DALLAS - For the first time, Dallas ISD's Summer Breeze camps will feature an American Sign Language (ASL) camp. Students will learn ASL, explore ways to communicate with the deaf and hard of hearing community, and learn from students in the program about their experiences. Harry Stone Montessori Academy will host Deaf Culture Day at 9 a.m., Monday, June 16, focusing on how hearing works and the causes of hearing loss. Campers will build a model eardrum to demonstrate how sound vibrations interact with the ear. The camp runs through June 26.

Stepping into the world of medicine
This summer, high school students will have the opportunity to explore the field of medicine through the Future Doctors Camp. Led by Texas A&M University medical students, participants will engage in hands-on activities like dissecting animal hearts and more. Media is invited to capture visuals at 9 a.m.,Tuesday, June 17, at David W. Carter High School, and at 9 a.m., Tuesday, June 24, at Sunset High School.

Summer safety tips from Dallas ISD
To help students enjoy a safe summer break, the district is sharing key safety tips. Parents are encouraged not to leave children under 13-years-old unsupervised and to create basic safety plans for all activities. With heat and water-related incidents among the most common risks, staying hydrated, wearing life vests, and limiting outdoor time on high-temperature days are essential precautions.
