David Letterman's Thoughts on Drew's Reprisal of Her Iconic Desktop Dance for Stephen Colbert
https://app.cimediacloud.com/r/HQFj3a3QeJoeDrew: I was thinking about our very special engagement that we had and it was 30 years ago this year.
David: I need to talk to you about something and I get the feeling I'm at the right place because in my dressing room is a big sign that says all you need is love and I thought this is spiritual. A couple of weeks ago. I think I had a, you ever have a dream that you can't tell if it's real or did you wake up and you, I don't know, it was more of a nightmare. It was god awful and it scared the, it was very upsetting. It was so upsetting I tivo'd it, and Hal roll that dream I had a couple of weeks ago. Wow. The interesting thing about that dream, I think it was born of an actual occurrence in my life many, many, many years ago that I still carry with me in my subconscious. and cherish.
Drew: There we go, here it comes, yeah, there she is. I kept my top on this time.
David: But you know, I'm not angry. I'm just disappointed.
Drew: I am so sorry. I really did it to honor you because that,
David: Now why wasn't I there if you were honoring me? That's right, I don't work there anymore. That explains that.
Memory Bank: David Letterman on Horseback Riding with Madonna Through Streets of NYC
https://www.instagram.com/p/DObqk3ckeKy/?hl=en
Drew: This is you and Madonna riding down the street on horseback.
David: That's fantastic. That is fantastic. I will tell you something. I don't know if you folks know much about Madonna, but she's not as cooperative as you might think. And to get this woman up on a horse she's never seen before, never met before, and I don't even know if she spends time on a horse at all she did that and you don't want to be riding a horse that size down pavement maybe in a nice lush grassy meadow, but she really demonstrated a great deal of, courage to get up on that beast so hey thanks again Madonna.
David Talks Parenthood with Drew
https://app.cimediacloud.com/r/44erL3vfwIQA
Drew: Your son's 21 now.
David: 21 years old. What a guy and what a guy. Would you, if he was 19, would you have applauded?
Drew: Yeah, okay it's true.
David: It's one of these deals where, you, and I feel stupid trying to describe parenthood because people who are parents know exactly what that experience is, and it's a book for which there is no end and some chapters are happy, some chapters are sad, but by God you're committed to reading the entire book, and your day stinks if their day stinks. If their day is great, you feel like the Queen of the Rose Parade, but he, my son.
Drew: I think you just did a really good job at describing parenthood actually. It's true. I'll never forget that metaphor.
David: I got a million of those, but my son Harry is what happens when a smart ass has a kid.
We were, my wife, and Harry and I, he was home before he went back to school, went back to school last week and so we're eating there and when you get to be my age, sometimes your esophagus unwillingly will close itself and you choke to death. So I started doing this. My son says, 'Dad.' And I think, oh this is gonna be good. What next comes out of Harry's mouth? Is it gonna be, are you okay, do you need to be Heimliched? Can I help you? Do you want some water? Should we call an ambulance? Should we call 911? So I'm thinking all these thoughts and my son says, 'Dad, stop doing that or I'll drop you.'
