State Police Investigate a Fatal Fire in Hornby

On January 22, 2025, the New York State Police responded to 5050 Hornby Road for a report of a structure fire with an elderly male trapped.

A preliminary investigation revealed that the fire broke out at approximately 7:44 p.m. When troopers arrived on the scene, they attempted to locate and rescue the male inside the residence but were unsuccessful as the residence was fully involved.

The following agencies responded: AMR Ambulance, East Campbell Fire Department, Corning Joint Fire Department, Painted Post Fire Department, Steuben County Emergency Services, Beaver Dams Fire Department, Steuben County Sheriff's Office, and the Hornby Fire Department.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
