Rolling closures planned for I-27 bridge work

LUBBOCK-Next Monday, Feb. 16 and Tuesday, Feb. 17, drivers can expect hour-long rolling closures on the interstate as TxDOT performs maintenance operations to the "railroad" bridges, located between Main Street and Broadway. The operation will replace bearing pads on both the southbound and northbound I-27 bridge structures.

Work on the southbound bridge is scheduled for Monday. Drivers should anticipate two hour-long rolling closures during the day. Then on Tuesday, work will take place on the northbound bridge. Again, drivers should anticipate two hour-long closures.

A rolling closure is a temporary road closure or traffic pacing operation that is commonly used to temporarily slow or stop traffic upstream of construction, maintenance or utility work activities that require a short-term full closure of the roadway.

Drivers are asked for their patience and are urged to seek an alternate route around the work zone. Work will take place weather permitting.
