Q. How long have you worked at W&L?
I started here at W&L this past July, so just about five months!
Q. What is the favorite aspect of your job at W&L?
Throughout my time here so far, I have loved getting to know the fraternity and sorority community, especially Panhellenic! Whether it's putting on programs, planning for formal recruitment, or just hanging out at our weekly executive meeting, my time with such amazing student leaders on campus brings me so much joy!
Q. If you chose a different path, what other career would you have?
While I do think all paths would've led me here, in another life I would've gone to culinary school! I love to cook and would love to sharpen my skills in a city with a great food scene.
Q. Where did you grow up?
I grew up in Ridgeland, Mississippi, just outside of Jackson (the state capitol and one of the cities mentioned in Bruno Mars' "Uptown Funk!").
Q. What was your favorite subject in school?
I loved Latin when I was in middle and high school, so much so that I was a classics major when I was an undergraduate student!
Q. What three words describe you best?
Warm, outgoing and creative!
Q. Name one person from history you would like to spend a day with and why.
I'd love to spend a day with Martha Foote Crow, one of the founders of my sorority, Alpha Phi! In addition to being a writer and educator, she was instrumental in the assessment and development of higher education for women. I would love to hear how she built community, advocated for women's leadership, and shaped spaces that helped students thrive.
Q. What is your biggest pet peeve?
Closed-mindedness! I love to be creative and try new things, and all my biggest blessings in life have come from being open to new experiences.
Q. What do you like to do away from work?
Travel! This year, I've travelled to Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee, Georgia, South Carolina and North Carolina, and still have Nevada (Las Vegas) and Illinois (Chicago) to go!
Q. What is your least favorite chore at home?
Washing dishes - my least favorite part of loving to cook!
Q. What is your favorite family holiday tradition?
My dad and I make homemade orange sweet rolls for Christmas morning before we open presents!
Q. What do you pretend to hate but secretly love?
I'll preach against being busy all day long, but I can't imagine my life not keeping busy!
Q. What is your all-time favorite food or food dish?
I'm a big foodie so it's very hard to choose, but I'd always say yes to butter chicken, carbonara or chips and queso!
Q. What is your all-time favorite book?
"The Odyssey!"
Q. If you could choose one series to binge-watch, what would it be?
"Gilmore Girls" on repeat! Lexington is my version of Stars Hollow.
Q. What is your all-time favorite movie?
"La La Land!" I'll even put on the score in the background while I'm working.
Q. What song or artist could you play on repeat?
Taylor Swift's "august" (the long pond studio sessions version!).
Q. Tell us something most people don't know about you.
My partner and I played Mary and Joseph in a live nativity when he and I were in college!
