ICYMI: Rep. Dave Min Slams ICE’s Culture of Violence

Washington, D.C. - This week, Representative Dave Min (CA-47) visited the Washington, DC headquarters of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement to condemn the actions of ICE agents and their continued abuse of the rule of law. In addition to participating in this rally and denouncing ICE misconduct, Rep. Min participated in a bicameral shadow hearing examining violence from ICE and DHS agents directed against American citizens, and spoke with the hosts of MeidasTouch's Legal AF podcast.

Rep. Min has been outspoken about the lawlessness of ICE, calling for the impeachment of Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Kristi Noem and sending multiple letters demanding answers from Sec. Noem, then-Acting Director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Todd Lyons, and DHS Inspector General Joseph Cuffari.

"I am prepared to vote NO on every funding vehicle until we start seeing some transparency, some investigation, because no one in America is above the law. And that includes, just because you have a badge, a federal law enforcement agent does not give you the right to commit crimes in this country."

"Some of us have raised concerns for a long time that ICE is hiring the wrong type of person. I know there is a lot of emphasis on training...and I agree with that and yet what we've seen over and over is stuff that I don't think training would cure. We see violence perpetrated by people in ways that dehumanize their victims."

"We have to show right now that we are not going to fall to these tactics, even though it is sometimes scary."
