An unidentified white male pedestrian was struck and killed Wednesday at 1:40 a.m. as he crossed the roadway in the 1700 block of Gallatin Pike N. He carried no identification. The Medical Examiner will assist in positively identifying him.
The preliminary investigation indicates that the 41-year-old male driver of a southbound Dodge Ram pickup truck was traveling through the light located in front of 1748 Gallatin Pike when the Dodge struck a grocery cart being pushed by the pedestrian, causing him to fall onto the roadway. Anyone with information about the driver and/or motorcycle rider is asked to call the Traffic Division at 615-862-7738.
There were no signs of impairment on behalf of the driver that remained on scene. There was a light rain/drizzle at the time of the crash. There were no pedestrian traffic control devices or painted crosswalks at the light.
