CFP Board research shows that nearly half of Americans say the financial situations of close friends or family have significantly influenced how they view their own finances, while another 35% report some level of impact. According to CFP Board's Financial FOMO: A Survey About Money and Relationships, married Americans and adults age 40 and under are more likely than their peers to compare their financial situations to those around them.
