No Traffic Controls & Pass Updates

Alpine County - The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will not conduct traffic controls in Alpine County next week.

State Routes 4 & 89

  • The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will temporarily close State Route 89 (Monitor Pass) at the State Route 4/89 Junction, as of 12:00 p.m., on Monday, April 20, 2026, in response to forecasted weather next week. Our Caltrans Woodfords maintenance crew will evaluate road conditions after the next storm to deem when safe for reopening to the traveling public.
  • The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) has moved the westbound closure of State Route 4 (Ebbetts Pass) back to Raymond Meadows as of 2:00 p.m., Thursday, April 2, 2026. State Route 4 (Ebbetts Pass) remains closed eastbound at Lake Alpine.

Motorists should expect 5-to-10-minute delays and use alternate routes whenever possible. All work is scheduled to occur as listed but is subject to change due to traffic incidents, weather, availability of equipment/materials, and construction-related issues.
