FedEx Launches Its First All-Electric Pick-Up and Delivery Fleet for Daily Operations in Asia Pacific at Ningbo Station

SHANGHAI, China, August 19, 2026 - Federal Express Corporation, one of the world's largest express transportation companies, has launched its first fully electric pickup and delivery (PUD) fleet for daily operations in the Asia Pacific region at its Ningbo Station. Transitioning from fuel-powered vans to electric vehicles, the station now provides local customers with zero-emission pickup and delivery services. This initiative makes FedEx the first international logistics provider in Ningbo and its surrounding areas to deploy an all-electric PUD fleet in its day-to-day business, covering Ningbo downtown, Xiangshan, Ninghai, and Fenghua.

Established in 2005, the FedEx Ningbo Station is one of the company's key logistics hubs in East China. Since deploying its first electric cargo vehicle in 2018, the station has steadily increased investment to strengthen its sustainable service capabilities. It now operates 48 electric vehicles supported by 6 charging facilities, forming the largest electrified PUD fleet in the Ningbo area. Compared with conventional fuel-powered vehicles, the all-electric fleet is expected to reduce annual fuel consumption by approximately 148 tons.

"The full electrification of our Ningbo PUD fleet demonstrates how FedEx is transforming day-to-day logistics operations through sustainable innovation," said Buay Beng Tan, Vice President of Operations, FedEx China. "By reducing carbon emissions while improving delivery efficiency and service quality, we are creating long-term value for our customers and communities. Going forward, we will continue scaling smart and low-carbon solutions across our network to build a more resilient, efficient, and sustainable supply chain in China."

As a vital foreign trade hub in China and an economic anchor in the Yangtze River Delta, Ningbo is home to dense clusters of high-end manufacturing, textile and apparel industries. The city's exports of the "New Trio" products, namely electric vehicles, lithium-ion batteries, and photovoltaic products, surged 26.9% year on year to RMB 71.99 billion in the first seven months of the year[1]. Meanwhile, rising export demand from high-tech and advanced manufacturing sectors has heightened requirements for supply chain security, timeliness, and sustainability.

The deployment of a fully electric PUD fleet supporting daily operations at the Ningbo Station represents a concrete step by FedEx toward a future-ready, sustainable, and intelligent supply chain. Backed by its global logistics network and continuously enhanced service levels, FedEx is well positioned to better meet the international shipping needs of high-value-added goods, cross-border e-commerce, advanced manufacturing, and textiles, empowering Chinese businesses to strengthen their global competitiveness and accelerate their overseas expansion.

As a key component of the company's goal to achieve carbon-neutral operations globally by 2040, FedEx plans to transition 100% of its global pickup and delivery vehicle purchase orders to electric by 2030. The company deployed its first electric vehicle in California as early as 1994, later becoming the world's first delivery company to utilize hybrid vehicles for pickup and delivery in 2003. Since 2018, FedEx has been rolling out pure electric vehicles across multiple cities in China. Today, China stands as the market with the largest electrified PUD fleet for FedEx in the Asia Pacific region, boasting an electrification rate of over 33%.

Note: As part of the company's ongoing electrification efforts, the six remaining diesel vans at FedEx Ningbo Station have been retired from daily pickup and delivery operations and will be replaced with electric vehicles over the next two years to further expand its electric fleet and support future market needs.
