Portions of Academy Street to Close on September 27 as Cary Police Hosts Annual Public Safety Day

Cary, NC - The Cary Police Department is hosting its Public Safety Day event on Saturday, September 27, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. along South Academy Street in downtown Cary. This free, family-friendly event features interactive exhibits, equipment displays, food trucks, and opportunities to meet public safety personnel. Attendees can connect with staff from the Cary Police and Fire departments, along with representatives from EMS, WakeMed, 25 police agencies, and other local organizations dedicated to keeping the community safe. A medication disposal booth will also be available for residents to drop off unwanted, unused, or expired prescription pills and patches. Liquids and sharps will not be accepted.

For the safety of participants, South Academy Street will be closed between Dry Avenue and Chatham Street during the event. Detour signage will guide motorists.
