The President of Georgia, Mikheil Kavelashvili, attended the civil memorial service for individuals transferred from the occupied region of Abkhazia who had been missing since the armed conflict of the 1990s. The President paid tribute to the memory of the deceased and extended his condolences to their family members.
Of the eleven identified individuals, two were military servicemen and nine were civilians. In accordance with the wishes of their families, the identified individuals, including the servicemen, will be buried with full honors in ancestral cemeteries across various regions of Georgia.
The memorial service was also attended by Tea Akhvlediani, State Minister for Reconciliation and Civic Equality.
The service was held at the Holy Trinity Cathedral of Tbilisi.
