While twin births are declining nationally, Ascension Columbia St. Mary's neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) has experienced an unusual increase in multiple births this summer, caring for four sets of twins and one set of triplets over the past four months.
The resulting story from TMJ4 features a mother whose twins are patients in the Ascension Columbia St. Mary's NICU, along with NICU nurse Susana Crespo, RN, who spoke about the unique experience of caring for multiple newborns and supporting families as they adjust to life with more than one baby.
