The President congratulated Chile on Independence Day

President Gitanas Nausėda extended congratulations to the President of the Republic of Chile, Gabriel Boric Font, and all the people of the country on the occasion of Independence Day.

Chile is one of Lithuania's key economic cooperation partners in South America. The President stressed the need to continue seeking ways to intensify trade relations between the two countries, to promote economic and scientific cooperation in high value-added sectors, and to expand people-to-people contacts that foster a deeper understanding of both nations' cultures.

"I am confident that mutual support in international organizations, as well as cooperation within the framework of the European Union-Chile dialogue, will contribute to strengthening both states and enhancing the well-being of our peoples. I also look forward to meaningful discussions at the upcoming European Union-Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) Summit in November," reads the President's message of congratulations.

According to the President, the unity of the international community remains particularly important in addressing global challenges and safeguarding the rules-based international order.

"I believe that respect for democracy and human rights, along with the commitment to uphold a rules-based world order, will continue to unite our countries. We must remain steadfast in supporting Ukraine in the pursuit of a comprehensive and sustainable peace agreement grounded in the fundamental norms of international law," the President underlined.

Gitanas Nausėda wished Chile and its people well-being and prosperity in every respect.
