Restoring a legacy: Lake Como leads the way
Published on April 17, 2026
As the Lake Como community marked its 120th anniversary, its legacy is not only being celebrated - it is also being restored.
Named after Lake Como in Italy, the neighborhood reflects a spirit of pride that continues to shape its identity today. Through community- driven efforts like the Juneteenth Parade and the preservation of the Lake Como Cemetery, Lake Como honors its history while strengthening connections for the future. As Kendra Williams shared, "We're here, we're thriving, and we're only getting started."
The City of Fort Worth is proud to celebrate and support Lake Como and the national recognition they have earned. After winning the Mayor's Community Engagement Neighborhood of the Year award for two consecutive years, Lake Como went on to earn Neighborhood of the Year at Neighborhoods USA both times.
With this year's third consecutive Neighborhood of the Year win in Fort Worth, they will return to Neighborhoods USA in May, and our city will be right behind them, proud to support and celebrate the Lake Como community as they take the national stage once again.
