10 UnityPoint Health Hospitals Earn National Recognition for Heart Attack Care

Ten UnityPoint Health-affiliated hospitals are being recognized with the highest levels of achievement from the American College of Cardiology's NCDR Chest Pain - MI Registry for 2026. The annual Performance Achievement awards recognize sustained, high-level performance in delivering quality care to heart attack patients.

UnityPoint Health hospitals recognized include:

Platinum

• UnityPoint Health - Allen Hospital (Waterloo, Iowa)
• UnityPoint Health - St. Luke's Hospital - Cedar Rapids (Cedar Rapids, Iowa)
• UnityPoint Health - St. Luke's Hospital - Downtown (Sioux City, Iowa)
• UnityPoint Health - Trinity Rock Island (Rock Island, Ill.)
• UnityPoint Health - Trinity Regional Medical Center (Fort Dodge, Iowa)

Gold

• UnityPoint Health - Trinity Bettendorf (Bettendorf, Iowa)
• UnityPoint Health - Iowa Methodist Medical Center (Des Moines, Iowa)
• UnityPoint Health - Meriter Hospital (Madison, Wis.)
• UnityPoint Health - St. Luke's (Sioux City, Iowa)

Silver

• UnityPoint Health - Finley Hospital (Dubuque, Iowa)

These awards reflect UnityPoint Health's commitment to delivering safe, high-quality care close to home for people experiencing a heart attack. Hospitals recognized have consistently met rigorous national standards based on American College of Cardiology and American Heart Association clinical guidelines.

To get Platinum or Gold, a site must earn an achievement for two consecutive years and the highest a site could qualify for if they had not previously had an award is Silver.

Nationally, 350 hospitals received Platinum recognition, 19 earned Gold, and 71 earned Silver, highlighting the level of performance achieved across UnityPoint Health.

More than 800,000 Americans experience a heart attack each year, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. A heart attack occurs when blood flow to the heart muscle is blocked, requiring rapid diagnosis and treatment. Evidence-based care includes timely restoration of blood flow, appropriate medications, smoking cessation counseling and cardiac rehabilitation.

The Chest Pain - MI Registry supports care teams in consistently applying the latest science-based treatment guidelines and helps establish a national benchmark for improving quality, safety and outcomes for patients with coronary artery disease.
