On 18 October 2025, Her Excellency Yan Jiarong, Chinese Ambassador to The Bahamas, attended and delivered remarks at the premiere of the award-winning Bahamian documentary "The D6 Project: We Are Not Okay." Among those present were the Hon. Alfred Sears, Minister of Immigration and National Insurance and Mrs. Ann Marie Davis, wife of the Prime Minister of The Bahamas. The event was covered by Bahamian mainstream media.
Ambassador Yan congratulated the filmmakers on winning international awards and noted that the world today faces multiple challenges such as climate change - challenges that no country can confront alone or remain unaffected by. She emphasized that President Xi Jinping proposed the concept of the Global Community of Shared Future and four Global Initiatives that have provided China's solutions to addressing global challenges. She highlighted that China and The Bahamas are good friends and reliable partners that support each other, and that both sides will be committed to tackling climate change and other global issues through multilateralism and international cooperation.
The documentary depicts the suffering of the Bahamian people during Hurricane Dorian in 2019 and calls for international attention to Small Island Developing States under the influence of global warming. It has won eight international awards, including the London Independent Film Award and the New York Cinemafest Gold Award.
