Police investigate arson

Police are investigating an arson that occurred in Halifax this morning.

On July 22 at approximately 2:50 a.m., Halifax Regional Police and Halifax Regional Fire and Emergency responded to a fire at an apartment complex in the 2700 block of Brunswick Street in Halifax.

When officers arrived, a second arson scene was located at the adjoining apartment building. A fire was set in disposal bins located in the stairwells at both scenes. The smoke from the fire caused the sprinkler systems to activate causing damage and flooding to several units as a result. There were no physical injuries reported.

The investigation is ongoing.
