Annual Police Memorial Service Honoring Those Who Died in the Line of Duty is Tomorrow at First Baptist Church Downtown

The annual memorial service in tribute to Nashville's officers who have died in the line of duty will be held tomorrow (Thursday) at 11 a.m., at First Baptist Church, 108 7th Avenue South (7th & Broadway).

The service, sponsored by the Andrew Jackson Lodge of the Fraternal Order of Police, honors the 47 law enforcement professionals who have died in service to Nashvillians since 1875. Officer John Anderson was the last Metro officer killed in the field in the line of duty. He died on the morning of July 4, 2019, when his police car was hit by another vehicle at the intersection of Interstate Drive and Woodland Street.

The service will also honor three active duty MNPD personnel who died from medical complications, Commander Scott Byrd (who passed in November 2025), Commander Anthony McClain (who passed in March 2025), and Deputy Chief Mike Alexander (who passed in 2022).
