Rep. Segun Adeyina Issues Statement on SNAP Funding During Federal Shutdown

ATLANTA - State Representative Segun Adeyina (D-Grayson) today issued the following statement on Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) funding during the federal shutdown:

"On November 1, over 600,000 children in Georgia could lose access to food because SNAP funds are running dry during this federal shutdown. Let that sink in.

"We have the resources. What's needed now is moral leadership. Governor Kemp, this is not about politics-it's about people. It's about the families and children we are elected to serve.

"You have the power to act. Use state funds to keep SNAP running. The federal government will reimburse Georgia once the shutdown ends. But a child's hunger cannot wait.

"Do the right thing-for Georgia, for our kids, for our neighbors."

Representative Segun Adeyina represents the citizens of District 110, which includes a portion of Gwinnett County. He was first elected to the House of Representatives in 2022 and currently serves on the Creative Arts & Entertainment, Education and Technology & Infrastructure Innovation committees.
